Carry Optics Course
This class is a transition course for those looking to upgrade or carry a slide mounted red dot optic on their duty or concealed carry firearm. 500 Rounds required for outdoor class (8 hours), 300 required for indoor course (4 hours).
Required Equipment:
Handgun with Properly Installed Slide Mounted Optic
4 Magazines
Kydex or Stiff Construction OWB or IWB Holster with Belt
(SERPA holsters and similar trigger finger release holsters are banned!)
Magazine Pouch to carry two mags on body
Appropriate Eye & Ear Protection
Hydration & Snacks
Closed Toe Shoes
Long pants
Rain Gear
Individual First Aid Kit with Tourniquet (optional)
3x5 card with emergency contact information
Prerequisite skills:
Students must be competent in safely drawing and re-holstering loaded handguns.
Students should consistently hit an 8 inch diameter target at 7-15 yards using iron sights.
Students should be familiar with shooting from an isosceles stance while utilizing a "high tang, thumbs forward" grip.
Outdoor Range Course covers multiple skill-sets needed to master shooting the slide mounted optic such as consistently "finding the red dot" on draw-stroke, controlling the red dot through recoil, and moving the red dot between multiple targets.
Indoor Range Course WILL NOT contain holster draws due to local range rules and limitations. However, we will work on many other red dot fundamentals including finding the dot, controlling the dot through recoil, and multiple target transitions.
